Taylor Witt, an upcoming 2023 graduate of the Collat School of Business’ online Master of Science in Management Information Systems program with a concentration in IT Management, is a born and raised Birmingham, AL native. Prior to starting the program, Taylor was an undergraduate student at UAB obtaining a Computer Science degree with a minor in Math, and always dreamt of being a UAB alumna for as long as she can remember.

Upon entering UAB’s online MS MIS program, Taylor’s goal was to learn as much as she can about MIS and IT management so she can one day attend a Ph.D. program.

UAB’s MS MIS online experience

Taylor’s online experience with UAB has been flexible and great! “I get a chance to connect with people who live in Alabama and outside of it. People in the program have different career paths and so much insight into what I want to do in life,” she said. “The professors are great and want you to understand the material. They will go out of their way to show you that they care and want you to do great things inside and out of the classroom.”

When asked about balancing the demands of study with her everyday life, Taylor responded, “Balancing a new job and starting my first semester as a graduate student is very challenging. However, I can overcome the struggles with the support group that I have, ranging from friends and family to UAB faculty members.”

Real-world application

After graduation, Taylor plans to “apply to Ph.D. programs centered around MIS and ultimately become a researcher or professor to make a difference in students’ lives and society.”
